FAQ
Q: Is it necessary to assign an IP-address from the personal account to the DVB- interface?
A: This is done automatically in Windows in majority of cases, but you sure need to do it for Linux.
Q: What Proxy server address should I use?
A: Using of proxy servers is not recommended since it slows down the work of SlonAx 3G accelerator but if you have decided it to use one, then it is necessary to use the first address from the given IP network. At the present moment it is 82.198.19.1 port 3128. The IP subnet provided to the clients is a subject for change without prior notice.
Q: I am not downloading anything but traffic flow is still there. How come?
A: Since SlonAx 3G is a tunnel theoretically any program can be the source of traffic. Most frequently the source of traffic is any program with the function of automatic update (Windows updates, anti virus software, some browsers, for example Firefox), but sometimes the reason for the unwanted traffic flow can be the viruses. SlonAx itself sends/receives some traffic to/from the server each 20 seconds which is necessary for maintaining of the normal tunnel operation.
Q: I have too big packet loss. What do I do?
A: It should be noted that a Loss (certain quantity of lost packets) is normal thing – packets might be lost along the way from your computer to the server and back, but if the quantity of lost packets exceeds 7-8 percent of total number then you should think about the reason why it is happening. The reason for the losses on the outgoing (TX) link most often appear because of the wrong parameters on the speed_out (simply try to decrease the bit rate). Losses on the incoming (RX) link normally appear because of the poor tuning of the antenna (check BER parameter) when using a satellite link; also losses can appear as a result of the absence of sufficient computer resources for the DVB-flow deployment.
Q: I have SlonAx 3G not connecting, it writes “Negotiation…” and that’s it.
A: Most likely the reason is the incorrect tuning of receiving equipment (frequency, PID, MAC), less likely - SlonAx was unable to assign an IP address to one of the interfaces. Try to make it manually.
Q: I have SlonAx 3G not working. I have read 2 times everything which is written here but nothing helps.
A: You should write an e-mail the address: support@satgate.net, in which you should clearly state the problem, indicate the version of the operating system used, the version of SlonAx used and the type of the outgoing link you have. Please attach a configuration file along with the check-out file sx3g_client.log (better in a compressed form).
Q: Does it make sense to use traffic compression programs along with the accelerator?
A: In 99% percent of cases the answer is NO. There is no sense to compress the traffic which has already been compressed. At best you will win several bytes per 1 mega-byte of traffic, at worst you will receive more traffic than you have requested.
Q: Do all programs work with SlonAx 3G?
A: In practice all network programs work without any problem. FTP-protocol in active mode is a single exception. Here problems are sometimes possible. No problems occur in the passive mode. 25th port of TCP protocol is filtered for spam boot resistance.
